The Electrical Tech I will work under the direction of the Electrician III to install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Inspects, repairs, installs, modifies, and maintains electrical/electronic systems, circuits, and equipment. Familiarity with both 12V and 120V electrical is preferred.
May have to complete a formal training in the area of electrical for advancement in this position.
The Electrical Tech I has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the electrical field.
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Works under immediate supervision.
Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
Reports to a supervisor/manager and is classified as a helper or assistant.
Building and Construction - Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.
Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
Tasks and Abilities:
Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps.
Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
